On April 29, domestic aluminum prices fell across the board, and the prices of major market varieties all fell significantly. Specifically:
- Yangtze River Market: The decline was consistent with the national trend, with an average price of 19,950 yuan/ton, down 110 yuan, mainly due to the slowdown in downstream procurement and the pressure of futures market correction.
- Nanhai Market: The price is still the highest in the country, with an average price of 19,890 yuan/ton, down 130 yuan, and the regional supply and demand contradiction is prominent. However, aluminum processing enterprises are concentrated in South China, and some rigid demand supports relatively high quotations.
- Nanchu Market: The decline ranked first, with an average price of 19,950 yuan/ton, down 110 yuan, mainly due to the increase in storage inventory and sufficient supply of delivery brands, the increase in the arrival of electrolytic aluminum in South China, and the increased willingness of traders to sell, resulting in an increase in spot discounts.
- East China market: As a core consumption area, prices are strongly supported by terminal orders, but the growth rate of aluminum use in the automotive and construction fields has slowed down recently, and Chalco's quotations have failed to rise against the trend.
According to the commodity market analysis system of Sino-Sino, as of April 22, the average price of domestic aluminum ingots in East China was 19,893.33 yuan/ton, down 3.32% from the average market price of 20,576.67 yuan/ton on April 1; up 1.81% from the average market price of 19,400 yuan/ton on April 9. In early April, affected by the news of US tariffs, the commodity market showed a stress reaction, and aluminum prices fell significantly. At present, after the impact of tariffs is reflected in prices, the influence has weakened, and the price of aluminum ingots has begun to return to fundamental considerations, and the price has begun to stabilize.
In the scrap aluminum recycling market, the domestic scrap aluminum recycling market continued to maintain a stable and positive trend on April 24, with mainstream product quotations in many places generally rising by 50 yuan/ton, among which the price of raw aluminum in Hebei Province rose by 100 yuan/ton. This round of general price increases was mainly driven by the continued strength of LME aluminum futures transmitted to the spot market, the expansion of recycled aluminum smelting capacity under the "carbon neutrality" policy, and the release of terminal demand in the traditional consumption peak season in April.
In March, aluminum prices started to rise again after a brief consolidation. The driving logic of the strong operation of aluminum prices is mainly due to the fact that the growth of electrolytic aluminum supply is limited by the domestic production capacity ceiling, and the peak consumption season in the first half of the year is approaching, and the operating rate of downstream aluminum processing enterprises is gradually recovering. However, in mid-March, due to the downward shift of alumina costs and the peak season demand falling short of expectations, aluminum prices fell back to around 20,500 yuan/ton.
